The MWMN at the Geneva Peace Week 2024

The Mediterranean Women Mediators Network participated in the Geneva Peace Week 2024 with the side-event “Pathways to Peace: Empowering Young Women as Agents of Change” organized together with OSCE Gender Issues Programme, the Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP) and Women in International Security – Italy (WIIS- Italy).

In an increasingly interconnected and complex world, the role of young women in fostering peace and stability cannot be overstated. The panel “Pathways to Peace: Empowering Young Women as Agents of Change” aimed to highlight some of the pivotal contributions of young women in peacebuilding and conflict resolution processes.

This panel has brought together women leaders and activists experts from diverse backgrounds to share their experiences and insights in the areas of peacebuilding, including the role played by networks in support of their effective involvement in peacebuilding processes and decision-making at local, national, and international levels.

The MWMN was represented by the Head of the Network, Loredana Teodorescu, who emphasized the need to support the participation of young women, as peacebuilders and mediators, strengthening initiatives like women networks and mentorship programmes, urging the international community to move from commitment to real actions for young women and a more peaceful future.
