On 12-13 June the “Women, Peace and Security International Conference: “From Gender Justice to Sustainable Peace – A 25-Year Vision”, took place in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Promoted by UN Women, UNFPA, and IOM under the leadership of the United Nations Resident Coordinator, the event brought together global leaders, civil society, and women peacebuilders to chart a bold path forward—from gender justice to sustainable peace in the country and beyond.
Marking 25 years since the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security (WPS) and 30 years since the Dayton Peace Agreement, the conference provided a timely platform to assess both the progress and persistent gaps in the WPS agenda.
Loredana Teodorescu contributed bringing the MWMN experience to the session entitled “Strengthening Commitments to Women’s Participation in Peace and Mediation Processes”, which explored global and regional strategies for advancing women’s participation and leadership in peace negotiations and mediation, with a focus on translating long-standing international commitments into practical, inclusive outcomes.
